I wanted an earflap hat that would be warm on his neck too. So I just made one long neckflap then started the hat. It's ok. Yes, it's a little too big. But, it's not bad for no pattern and a first attempt. If I shorten the neckflap and go down a needle size it should be perfect!

Hey that's a terrific hat for no pattern! It matches the coat beautifully. And I totally get what you mean about the matching thing.
Haha, I know what you mean about the matching hat-coat-sets. :) And what could be better than seeing that something you made with your own little hands keeps your kiddies warm in the cold Winter weather. Wow, that was one long, weird sentence..
